Reading Tutoring

Reading fluency is the ability to read with speed, accuracy, and correct delivery. To support children in understanding what they read, they must become fluent readers. Reading fluency is the connection between reading words on a paper and comprehending what the words means. 

  Schools use a tool known as the Lexile level or Lexile measures to keep track of a student’s capability of reading levels. The Lexile measures the reading level and difficulty of text. Understanding the Lexile level will ensure students are reading the right books. 

  The RI is a test aimed to gauge reading comprehension based off text dependent questions. The Reading Inventory provides student’s reading growth and help decide reading goals. The test helps match the students with books they can read and understand with certainty.

Vocabulary words are a major part to reading comprehension. It is easier for readers to decode words that they are familiar with. Readers need to understand what they are reading; however, this is difficult, with a lack of vocabulary. 

Reading and writing goes hand in hand.  The writing process involves sentence and paragraph construction, text features/structures, and different writing skills that enhances reading comprehension. Learning spelling and sentence construction increase fluency. 

Students can learn the writing process in 5 steps. The steps in the writing process are important because each step will support developing a correct essay, that shows a hook, thesis statement, evidence, and a conclusion.
